  • Prince Harry just asked to be called "Harry," sans princely title, as he finishes his final royal engagements as a senior royal.
  • Harry still has his Duke of Sussex title but will not be called His Royal Highness anymore.

The saga that is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (Kinda Sorta) Quit the Royal Family is finally coming to a close. It's been quite a ride since they announced they'll be stepping back from senior royal duties, and TBH, it's been hard to keep track of everything that happened (thankfully, we've done that for ya).

The most important things to know now are that (a) Meghan and Harry are enjoying their new lives in Canada, (b) they won't get to keep their "Sussex Royal" trademark (as much as we may want them to), and (c) Prince Harry no longer wishes to be called Prince Harry—I'm sorry, WHAT?

Believe it or not, this is true. Prince Harry is now asking members of the general public to call him Harry, and Harry alone. I'll give you a minute to process that.

Harry returned to the United Kingdom this week to complete one of the last rounds of his senior royal duties, and he spoke at the Travalyst working summit in Scotland, where he requested people call just call him Harry. Ayesha Hazarika, the host of the event, intro'd Harry before he stepped onstage and said “He wants to say a few words to kick start the day, and he’s made it clear that we are all just to call him ‘Harry.' So, ladies and gentlemen please give a big Scottish welcome to Harry.”

For what it's worth, Harry and Meghan will still retain their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, which is a plus! But they wont be using the HRH (His and Her Royal Highness) anymore. According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles, as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family,” and the change will “take effect in the spring of 2020.”

In the great word of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, "He's a prince! At least, he was to me!" RIP!
