Fans of Taylor Swift were thrilled to get an inside peek at a slightly embarrassing moment for the singer — the hilarious post-surgery video her mom shared with the world on the Tonight Show. The funny moment involved a loopy Swift having a breakdown over bananas after she had eye surgery. Now her fans are outraged at Justin Bieber after he appeared to be mocking Swift, but was he really throwing shade her way?
Swift’s banana video made the rounds
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, the host had a little surprise for the singer — a video of her after having laser eye surgery where she tries to eat a banana. The video came courtesy of her mom and showed Swift in a vulnerable place, but was highly entertaining.
Swift had some pretty big feelings about bananas in her drug-induced state, as she attempted to pick one from the bunch and whined, “That wasn’t the one I wanted.”
Swift explained in the video, “I wanted this one but what do we do with this now?” Next she’s seen in bed trying her best to eat the banana, but looking pretty out of it, with her mom warning, “Don’t fall asleep while eating the banana.” Swift responds, “I’m not asleep, my mind is alive.”
Did Justin Bieber mock Taylor Swift?
During Hailey Bieber’s Instagram Live on Sunday, Bieber reenacted Swift’s banana meltdown moment and her fans were not having it.
He was captured mimicking the Swift moment, saying, “it’s not the banana that I wanted.” Hailey laughed and said, “that was so funny,” as he continued, “It’s not the right banana! It has no head!”
Not surprisingly, Swift’s fans were on the attack, with one Twitter user noting: “Swifties, time to get in formation” and another sharing, “that was a mistake… swifties are gonna bury him.”
Some fans found it rude of Bieber, with one Twitter user sharing: “what an ass I can’t — I mean I’m not surprised at this point but fr she just had surgery??? Doing this is so uncalled for he’s literally just bullying her.”
Not everyone thought Bieber was throwing shade, however, with one person tweeting: “I legit don’t think they’re trying to make this a big deal, they just saw it and were laughing about it :/ but everyones freaking out. Like what are they supposed to do not make fun of it? When everyone else is. It was meant to b a funny video, at least they thought it was funny.”
Hailey Bieber responds
Hailey took to Twitter to address one fan who was over-the-top upset over the matter, tweeting: “I never knew I could make somebody so upset… truly I’m so sorry you’re THIS upset?! Lord have mercy I hope I’m never this upset about someone I don’t know!!”
She followed it up by noting: “Listen. I think it’s awesome how passionate you are and how hard you ride for someone you’re a fan of, it’s beautiful how dedicated you are. If there’s something I did to personally hurt you or offend you I’m sorry, it’s not my intention to upset you by any means.”
Hailey continued, “but being angry at someone you don’t know does nothing for you. I know cause I been there… all it’s gonna do is make you miserable. Don’t let ME of all people get you feeling that way. Trust me, I’m not worth the energy, nobody should be worth that energy!”
