Taylor Swift’s subtle swipes are an art form.
The songstress’ thinly veiled, I’m-shading-you-out-without-naming-you moments come in many varieties. There’s the pointed Grammy acceptance speech, the pointed song lyrics, and, our personal favorite, the pointed way in which she sings a specific lyric live.
Twitter thought the third option was executed brilliantly on Wednesday during the 29-year-old’s performance at the star-studded Amazon Prime Day concert, with her target being none other than Scooter-fresh-bad-blood-Braun.

The shade was detected when the award winning artist was performing Shake It Off and sang the following line with particular zest:
“Just think while you’ve been getting down and out about the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats in the world, you could have been getting down to this sick beat.”
Fans on social media noticed Tay pretty much yelled out the words “liars and dirty dirty cheats of the world” way more than she typically does, making many feel it was a dig at the music manager and her old record label, Big Machine.
Swift didn’t mention anyone by name, of course. But fans felt the message was clear, seeing as it came over a week after the singer publicly accused Braun of bullying her by purchasing her music catalog through the acquisition of her former label.
Others theorized Big Machine exec Scott Borchetta was also on the receiving end of Taylor’s shade, which also could have served as a reminder she writes her own songs.
Ch-ch-check out the moment fans are talking about (below) — along with a couple strong reactions.

We heard you loud and clear, sis!
As we reported, the music industry has been divided since Swift waged a public war with Braun after it was announced the super-manager had bought up her music catalog.
In a scathing open letter via Tumblr posted hours after the purchase was announced, she wrote:
“I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years … Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”
The drama stems from Taylor apparently not having an opportunity to purchase her own masters before Ariana Grande’s manager scooped them up, though there’s some confusion as to whether or not that’s true.
A source recently told Us Weekly:
“The potential sale of Big Machine, and Taylor’s renegotiation with Big Machine were widely reported and in that entire process. Taylor didn’t reach out once about wanting her masters.”
The 29-year-old’s attorney claimed otherwise, however, saying in a statement that “Scott Borchetta never gave Taylor Swift an opportunity to purchase her masters.”
So, someone’s definitely the liar here. We just don’t know who!

Braun, meanwhile, is reportedly hoping to have a private conversation with the pop star where they can sort this all out.
It’s all very exhausting. Just think, while they’ve been getting down with the Tumblr and the dirty, dirty internet tabloids of the world, they could’ve been getting down to this. Sick. Beat.
Do U think Taylor was calling out Braun and her old label?
