‘Central Park Five’ prosecutor facing ouster from charity after Netflix show - New York Post

Former Manhattan sex crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein faces potential ouster from the board of a leading victim services agency over her role in the case against the “Central Park Five,” according to a report Tuesday.

A majority of directors at the Safe Horizon nonprofit want Fairstein removed, and “plan to take legal action this week” if CEO Ariel Zwang doesn’t comply, TMZ said.

The reported backlash is tied to Friday’s debut of the four-part Netflix series “When They See Us,” about the convictions and subsequent exonerations of five teens in the 1989 rape and assault of Trisha Meili while she was jogging in Central Park.

Some Safe Horizon staffers were unaware that Fairstein was the prosecutor in the case and “demanded her immediate dismissal,” TMZ said.

The show also prompted a #CancelLindaFairstein campaign on Twitter that includes calls for retailers to stop carrying the best-selling mystery novels she’s been writing since retiring from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Safe Horizon’s website says it’s the country’s largest nonprofit, victim services agency and helps more than 250,000 New Yorkers annually.

Fairstein joined its board in 2000 and serves as the secretary.

Fairstein declined to comment and Safe Horizon didn’t return email and phone messages.
