Terry Bradshaw apologizes for 'offensive' remark about Ken Jeong's background - USA TODAY

Former NFL quarterback and "Fox NFL Sunday" host Terry Bradshaw is expressing remorse following an offensive comment he made about Ken Jeong.

When speaking Monday about his time on "The Masked Singer," Bradshaw said at the Fox upfront he was "kicked off by Alan Thicke and the little short guy from Japan.”

Bradshaw was referring to Robin Thicke, the son of Alan Thicke who died in 2016, and Ken Jeong, who was born in Detroit but is of Korean descent. Both were panelists on the singing show.

Bradshaw has since apologized for his comment.

“I made an insensitive remark today about Ken, who I’ve known for some time,” Bradshaw said in a statement published by The Wrap and Variety. “I’ve spoken to him about the importance of cultural respect and apologized for my offensive comments. I would like to also apologize to the Asian-American community for my insensitivity.”

USA TODAY has reached out to reps for Bradshaw and Jeong for comment.

In August, Jeong spoke with Variety about being part of the show that is an adaptation of a Korean program. The star revealed how his parents were big fans of the original show.

"They’re so into the show that when I was offered to be a panelist on the show, my mom was like, 'You’ve got to do this. You’ve got to do this,' Jeong recalled. "It’s as simple as that. My Korean mom told me to be on 'Masked Singer.' "

"Masked Singer" was a huge hit last winter, and will be back for two more editions, Fox announced Monday, the second premiering after the Super Bowl.

Fox is the only major broadcast network to add viewers this season, thanks mostly to the addition of the NFL and "Masked," this season's top-rated series among younger viewers. The network is averaging 5.5 million primetime TV viewers, up 10% from last season, and is up 3% among young adults. But it still ranks fourth among all viewers and is tied (with CBS) for second among the 18-to-49 crowd.
